Privacy policy
This policy explains what personal data Krong Academy ("Krong Academy", "we", "us") collects when you use Sen at sen.krong.academy, why, and what rights you have over it. The Krong Academy Privacy Policy at krong.academy covers the course, the free sign-ups, purchases and certificates. Where the two overlap, read them together.
1. Who is responsible for your data
Krong Academy, operated by Damian Powell, an individual trading as a sole proprietor based in South Africa, is the "responsible party" (under South Africa's POPIA) and the data controller (in GDPR terms). Contact: hello@krong.academy.
2. What we collect
- Your account. Your email address and, if you give them, your first and last names, collected by our sign-in provider, Clerk, to create and manage your account.
- A student flag. A flag on your account that records whether you are an enrolled student, and for which dates, so that the full exports unlock.
- Technical data. Our host, Netlify, logs technical data such as your IP address and browser type when you load Sen.
- Email to us. Whatever you include in that correspondence.
We run no analytics or advertising trackers in Sen. We do not knowingly collect any special category of data (health, political or religious belief and so on). Please do not put it in messages to us.
3. Why we collect it, and our legal basis

4. Email
Creating a Sen account does not enrol you in marketing email. We use your email address to run your account, and to send you messages about the account when needed, such as a sign-in code. If you also want email from us about the Programme, you can ask for it separately on krong.academy. Every marketing email includes an unsubscribe link.
5. What stays on your device
Your projects, your theme choice and your backup-reminder email are stored in your browser (local storage) on your own device. We do not receive or see them. Your projects are not sent to our servers or to any AI service. Any export file you create is yours to keep. We have no access to what you build in Sen unless you choose to send us an export file yourself, for example with a support request.
6. Who processes data for us
- Clerk: sign-in. Your email, name, and account and student status.
- Netlify: hosts Sen and logs technical data. It does not receive your project.
- jsDelivr: delivers the open-source libraries that build export files. It can see your IP address and browser type when your browser fetches them. It does not receive your project.
- Google Fonts: delivers the typefaces Sen uses. Google can see your IP address when they load.
We do not sell your personal data, and we do not share it for anyone's own marketing. We may disclose personal data if the law or a legal process requires it, or to protect our rights or the safety of others.
7. Cookies and local storage
Sen sets Clerk session cookies (strictly necessary), stores your projects and project index in local storage (strictly necessary), and stores your theme and backup-reminder email as preferences you set yourself. If you choose to remember an AI key on this device, it is kept in local storage as a preference you set yourself; otherwise it is held in memory only until you close the tab. It sets no analytics, advertising or tracking cookies. The Krong Academy Cookie Policy lists these in its section on Sen.
8. How we protect your data, and how long we keep it
We rely on the security measures of Clerk and Netlify to protect the data they process, and we do not store your data on our own servers outside those providers. No method of transmission or storage is 100 per cent secure. If we learn of a breach that creates a real risk of harm to you, we will tell you and, where the law requires it, the regulator, without undue delay. We keep your account data while your account is active. If you were an enrolled student, we keep purchase records for a reasonable period after (typically up to 7 years) for accounting, tax and dispute purposes.
9. Your rights
You can ask us at hello@krong.academy to give you access to your data, correct it, delete it where we are not required to keep it, restrict or object to marketing use, give you a portable copy, or withdraw consent. You can delete your own account at any time from inside Sen (Account, then Delete account). This is immediate and permanent, and you do not need to contact us first. You can delete your projects by clearing site data for sen.krong.academy in your browser. In South Africa you can complain to the Information Regulator. In the EU or UK you can complain to your local data protection authority. In a US state with its own privacy law, you have broadly similar rights, and we do not sell or share personal data as those laws define it. We aim to answer within 30 days.
10. International transfers
Clerk, Netlify, jsDelivr and Google operate internationally, so your data may be processed outside your country. Each has its own framework for international transfers (such as EU Standard Contractual Clauses, where they apply). We rely on those safeguards.
11. Children, changes and contact
Optional AI help, with your own key. Sen has no AI of its own. If you open Ask AI and paste your own Anthropic or OpenAI key, or the key and address of another service that follows the OpenAI format, Sen shows you the exact text it would send, and sends it from your browser straight to the provider you chose only after you agree, each time. Krong Academy does not receive that text, the answer or your key. The provider's own terms and privacy policy apply to what you send. Do not send personal data you are not allowed to share.
Sen is intended for working professionals and is not directed at anyone under 18. We may update this policy. Changes are posted with a new date and version. If we ever send project data to a server ourselves, we will update this policy and the Sen terms of use first, and ask for your agreement before any project data leaves your device.
